Oil Pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic medicinal tradition. It involves taking a tbsp of Coconut Oil and swishing it in your mouth for 20 minutes, then spitting and rinsing it. You swish the oil in between your teeth for the full 20 minutes and then, like magic, you reap all kinds of health benefits, particularly to your teeth. So why would your dentist hate this?
Obviously, they are losing a huge amount of revenue when someone takes up oil pulling. But lets talk a little easy to comprehend layman’s science here real quick.
If you take a glass of water and you at sand to it. Then you add olive oil to it. Next, you shake that glass around intensely. And after that, you pour the liquid out but you strain it. If you then look at the strainer, what do you think you will see? Yep, a lot of sand stuck in the strainer. This is because olive oil is a fat and fats don’t mix with water, they instead remain separated. That’s all that’s happening when you oil pull, the oil is attaching to toxic matter and plaque and after swishing it around and spitting it, you rid yourself of it. Now, when you brush your teeth, that science is pretty easy to grasp as well. You brush your teeth, it creates grinding and friction and knocks residue from the teeth. Not bad, right? But which is better is the core concern here. The oil penetrates between your teeth, it bonds with the toxins. This process helps heal gums (one of the huge benefits). What other benefits are there?

1) People report MUCH better sleep.
2) People report gums healing (mine did and anyone I know that’s done this, their’s has as well).
3) Whiter teeth
4) Cleaner feeling in mouth
The list really could go on, but the main point is why would your Dentist discourage this free, natural, easy to do treatment for yourself and your kids? Obviously, because oil pulling could literally crush the dental industry. Over 80 percent of what they do can be cured with oil pulling. In fairness, we’ve had a number of fans of our Facebook page tell us their Dentist were supportive, so it isn’t a sweeping idea, but for the most part, expect your dentist to call it a quack cure.
